Recently, Minister of Housing and Urban Rural Development Ni Hong and Minister of National Development of Singapore Xu Fangda jointly held the second China Singapore Ministerial Dialogue on Promoting Construction and Development in Beijing, and the two sides had in-depth exchanges on the theme of urban renewal.
Ni Hong stated that urban renewal is a common issue facing the urban development of China and Singapore. China's cities are shifting from a stage of large-scale incremental expansion to a stage focused on improving stock quality and efficiency. Urban renewal contains enormous development opportunities and broad market prospects. China is willing to work with Singapore to strengthen cooperation between relevant departments, research institutions, and enterprises in the field of urban renewal, accumulate replicable and promotable experience for urban renewal in more countries, including ASEAN countries, and jointly promote high-quality urban development.
Xu Fangda stated that both Singapore and China are facing challenges such as balancing urban development and historical and cultural preservation, adapting old residential areas to aging, and protecting and expanding urban green spaces. China has achieved remarkable results in applying new technologies and construction methods in urban renewal. New Zealand is willing to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning with China, learn from each other's strengths and weaknesses, and jointly seek sustainable urban renewal solutions.
Officials from relevant departments and units of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development participated in the dialogue.
